Hat-Tricks and High Scores
There were not too many questions raised following the last day of the home-and-away season. But following on from the oldest to take a "5-for" and the oldest to captain a side was along similar lines - who is the oldest player to take a hat-trick at the club?

Most Runs at Murrumbeena Park
I was also asked who had made the most runs at Murrumbeena Park. This is the First XI list, and it's hardly a surprise that Leigh Hardham comes out on top, but a couple of the names lower down in the "top ten" were surprising. Then I realised that I was only looking at details from scorebooks. This, therefore, is hardly worth reporting, but I may revisit.

Two Partnerships above 130
I was intrigued by seeing the club have two partnerships above 130 in round 14: Brad Kruger
and Xavier Ross in the 1sts along with Jarrod Martin and Zane Goold in the 2nds. This is only the fourth
time I can find a pair of partnerships in the same round on turf - with the usual disclaimer - partnerships
can only be guaranteed in seasons we have access to score books. There may be more, prior to 1982/83. Only one of these partnerships pairs above 130 occurred in the same match - 1982/83 1st XI against McKinnon, with two different pairs of batsmen involved. Here's the short listing:
season | rnd | XI | runs | versus | Players |
82/83 | 5 | 1 | 132 | McKinnon | Peter Hay-Richard Blaze |
162 | McKinnon | Jeff Graham-Leigh Hardham
96/97 | 7 | 4 | 156 | Ormond | Jarod Hancock-Peter Way |
1 | 194 | Youlden - Parkville | Stephen Hay-Kapila Jayasuriya
06/07 | 5 | 2 | 208 | Old Mentonians | Tom Mann-John Bailes |
1 | 161 | Old Mentonians | Troy Lamb-John Patton
18/19 | 14 | 2 | 139 | Middle Park | Jarrod Martin-Zane Goold |
1 | 158 | Brighton District | Xavier Ross-Brad Kruger |
Consecutive First XI Games
I thought that this question would be quite tricky to answer. The technology at my fingertips doesn't handle "sequences" all that brilliantly, but I have come with up the answer. This covers only matches played on turf (since 1953/54) and I may be one or two games out for some of the earlier sequences. It's interesting to see a couple of current First XI players on the list, although neither are adding to their longest sequence

Most Runs scored in a Match
The run-scoring spree at Beena which saw Brighton District make a brilliant effort to chase down our 8/368 prompted a question - what is the highest number of runs scored in a match? Last weekend's match, with 692 runs, is the highest in which there were only two innings. The higher scoring games involved one or both teams batting twice, and the Grand Finals were played over 3 or 4. Here are the highest scoring matches games in which neither team batted twice.
